Why this deserved Nicholas?
Its strange talking about Mark Nicholas while the issuse is discussing the retirement of Anil Kumble. The great man retired from international cricket on the 2nd of November 2008. This leaves a great void in Indian cricket. Mark Nicholas has been criticised in the past for over senstaionalism. For all of us watching the final session of the India vs Australia game at Delhi, it was a very emotional moment. He has played for a generation. Mark was on commentry at that time and for once his comments were not considered an over dramatic. But no sensationalism is over sensationalism when it comes to Anil Kumble. A fighter, a champion, a legend an inspirer of generations and most important of all, a humble and a modest human being.
He has been there to answer India's calls whenever the he was called. For sheer grit, courage, passion and competetiveness, there is and was no parallel in Indian cricket. There was no harm in him hogging the limelight from Saurav Ganguly's final series. Saurav will get his turn at Nagpur but no one will fault Anil Kumble for asking the Aussies to bat and himself opening the bowling. In fact, it was the tenth time he had done so in test cricket. A bowler who has always put his hand up whenever a captain looked for a breakthrough.

Hardly has Anil Kumble failed his captain, the mose notable being the Calcutta test againt Pakistan where he got Shahid Afridi out when he was just looking dangerous. Who can forget Anil turning up to bowl with his jaw bandaged and getting rid of Brian Lara. A man who never gave in wit

The Nuclear deal is through. A epoh making day in the History of India has dawned upon us .There are some questions though
Will Pakistan get the same treatment(The Civilian Nuclear Deal) from the united States like India has got?.
This is the question in everyone's mind across the border. The answer is if you
ask many US diplomats a firm "NO"?First of all Pakistan gatecrashed into
the Nuclear party.Pakistan is notorously known for its bad behaviour.People
must be now familiar with the AQ Khan issue. That puts Pakistan virtually on
the list of "Rouge Nations".The deal explicitly states that there has to
be seperation of the military as well as the civilian nuclear facilities.
As everyone knows that there is virtual "Military Rule" in Pakistan. Under
President (He still is caled as "General" )Musharaff they have a regime which is extremely volatile. It is not just possible to seperate their civilian programs from their military ones because they simple do not exist. The Pakistanis expect a nuclear deal from the US. Condi Rice has made it clear that there will be no such deal with the Pakistanis. One must appreciate the leadership of President Bush on this issue ,he has been invloved in every stage of this negotiation. Every single person is aware that the deal must be passed by the US congress before it becomes a reality. There are many in Capitol Hill who are apprehensive about this deal including many Republicans. But it is here where President Bush's leadership skills must be appreciated. He very well knew that there was plenty of oppossition waiting for him inspite of that he went with his gut. He is known to take risks and most often than not they come off. Hats off to the President and the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh on this issue. Also to be appreciated are the Indian foreign service diplomats. People like Shyam Saran have done hours of hard negotiations on this issue. India has done a lot of bargainig on this issue. This deal is a victory to India. The important aspect of this is that the "Fast Breeder Reactors" are exempt from international inspections. The Prime Minister has thus safeguarded India's interests. A point must also be made about the CPM lead protests , it is ridiculous that the left is protesting against those same policies of the UPA government, which when inplemented in Russia and China, the breeding grounds of Comminism have turned to be a success. The truth is that when the Leftists are down their voice goes up.They have no clear agenda this time and their protests are absolutely out of time and devoid of any logic
